Strict vigil to curb Maoist, terrorist activities in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Ten Maoists and 55 terrorists were arrested in the capital during the past three-and-half years, and regular checks conducted to curb the menace, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.
In a written reply to Samajwadi Party member Jaya Prada, Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken said the Delhi Police has registered five cases against the 10 Maoists who were arrested and 23 cases against the 55 terrorists arrested till July.
He also said armed response teams have been deployed across Delhi to check Maoist activity.
The Delhi Police carries out tenant and servant verification on a regular basis. Besides this, terrorists-related intelligence is collected and security audit of vital installations conducted, he said.
Regular checking of cyber cafes, guest houses and hotels, airport, railways stations and STD booths is also carried out, he added.
“Apart from this, meetings with resident and market welfare associations (are conducted) and pamphlets creating public awareness against terrorism are distributed, (and) slide shows at cinema halls are screened regularly,” the minister pointed out.
