Security forces kill six Maoists in West Bengal

KOLKATA - Six Maoists were killed and a security personnel was seriously injured in a clash in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district early Monday, police said.

The clash began at 3 a.m. in a forest in Goaltore area and was still on, a police officer said, adding that bodies of all the six Maoists have been recovered and sent for the post-mortem.

A trooper of the elite Commando Batallion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force was seriously injured in the gun battle. He is being shifted to Kolkata for treatment.

The forces have also recovered some arms and weapons from the Maoists, the officer added.
