BAGHDAD - A suicide bomber killed himself and 28 other persons in an attack in Baquba Wednesday evening, the Buratha News agency reported.

The report said 46 people were wounded by the blast when the attacker set off a car bomb in a marketplace near a Shia mosque in the city, which is capital of the Baquba province north-east of Baghdad.

Further details were not immediately available.

In further violence, unknown attackers in Baghdad’s Sunni district of Adhamiya killed the commander of the local citizens’ defence forces as he was leaving the Abu Hanife mosque with several others.
