NEW DELHI - Maoist guerrillas Tuesday massacred 26 Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) personnel in Chhattisgarh, Home Secretary G.K. Pillai said here.

Pillai told reporters that the Maoists ambushed a “road opening party” of the CRPF in Narayanpur district, killing the 26 and injuring seven men.

He said all others in the CRPF party of 63 had been accounted for and had returned to the camp.

“Reinforcements from the neighbouring camps have reached,” he said, adding that two badly wounded men had been evacuated by helicopter.
