12 killed, 42 injured in Iraq bomb attack

BAGHDAD - Twelve people were killed and 42 injured Thursday in two separate bomb attacks in Baghdad’s predominantly Shiite suburb of Sadr City, Iraqi police and media sources said.
Seven people were killed and 22 were injured when a car bomb exploded near a popular cafe in Sadr City, police sources told DPA.
Separately, five people were killed and 20 were injured when a bomb placed in a parked minibus in Sadr City exploded in the early hours of Thursday.
Additionally, one policeman was killed by a car bomb and three civilians were killed in separate attacks by gunmen in the northern city of Mosul late Wednesday, police sources said.
Among the civilian victims was an employee of the Iraqi satellite television channel al-Mosuliya, who was shot and killed by gunmen as he left a mosque in the eastern area of the city.
