Jharkhand doctor alleges extortion call by Maoists

RANCHI - A civil surgeon in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district Friday alleged that the Maoists have made an extortion call for Rs.5 lakh from him.

Vijay Kumar, the civil surgeon of Hazaribagh Sadar hospital, informed police that he got an extortion call from the Maoists.

“A Maoist posing as Vinod Ganjhu, an area commander of CPI-Maoist, sought Rs.5 lakh from me. I have informed police about the extortion call,” Kumar told reporters.

A police officer of Hazaribagh district told IANS: “We have received a complaint from Vijay Kumar. We have started the probe. Vijay has some problem with the doctors in the hospital so we are probing.”
