MOHALI - A suspected terrorist, who planned to conduct blasts in various parts of the state, was arrested from the border town of Ferozepur in Punjab and RDX weighing three-and-half kg was recovered from him, police said here Monday.
“On the basis of interrogation of two terrorists, Gurpreet Singh and Balbir Singh Bhootna of the Babbar Khalsa International, who are in jail, we had sent a special team to Ferozepur to conduct raids. During the raids, we arrested a suspected terrorist, Piara Singh,” Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told IANS.
Ferozepur is around 250 km from state capital Chandigarh.
“We also recovered three-and-half kg RDX from Piara Singh. We are bringing him to Mohali for interrogation,” he said.
According to police sources, three-and-half kg of RDX could potentially cause quite huge damage.
“Police have information that he had plans to conduct blasts in various parts of the state and in the neighbouring areas,” Bhullar added.
The two jailed terrorists, Singh and Bhootna, are members of banned terrorist-outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), the sources said.
