JAMMU - Four militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) group were killed in two gun battles Saturday in the hilly areas of Kishtwar and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Haseeb Mughal, two LeT terrorists were killed in a forested area of Kishtwar, about 230 km north of Jammu.

“It’s a big success for the security forces and a big blow to Lashkar in the district,” he said.

In another gunfight, Indian soldiers killed two militants in Dharmsal area in Rajouri district. “The encounter is continuing,” Brigadier Gurdip Singh of 16 Corps told IANS.

At least 21 militants have been gunned down by the army and the police this year.

Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Ashok Gupta said the security forces have “intensified their offensive against militants. These operations were a result of coordination among security forces,” Gupta told IANS.
