Maoist couple surrenders in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - A Maoist couple surrendered to police in Orissas Keonjhar district Tuesday, citing physical and mental exploitation by the ultras, officials said.
Two people surrendered before us today (Tuesday). They were members of the Kalinga Nagar division (of the Maoists), said Superintendent of Police Ashis Singh.
The two have been identified as Mamina Munda, 18, and Mataram Munda, 20.
According to police, they surrendered due to mental and physical exploitation by the Maoist cadre.
The woman Maoist rebel said that they were physical and mentally exploited by senior members in the cadre, Singh added.
They had joined the Leftwing ultras two years back and got married one year ago. But after marriage they were forcibly taken back into the Maoist cadre and deployed in different divisions of the outfit.
After marriage they were deployed in separate divisions, Singh added, saying that the couple will be rehabilitated according to the surrender policy of the state government.
