Security force camps in Maoist areas need protection: Narayanan

KOLKATA - West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan Friday met the families of the 24 security personnel killed in a Maoist ambush Feb 15 and said that the camps of security forces in Maoist-affected areas should be better protected.
“All the camps in Maoist regions should be more protected,” Narayanan said.
He said that during his interaction with the family members of the 24 slain security personnel - killed in the Shilda Maoist attack — they had asked for better security infrastructure and better positioning of the police camps located in Maoist belts.
“When I met the family members of the 24 killed Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) jawans they talked about employment opportunities, better security infrastructure and better positioning of police camps in the Maoist regions,” Narayanan told reporters.
The governor Friday visited the EFR headquarters in West Midnapore’s Salua and had a long discussion with the kin of the killed security personnel.
Narayanan was accompanied by state Director General of Police (Armed Forces) Partha Bhattacharya during his visit.
The governor also paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial of Salua EFR complex.
