BOKARO - Two heavy-weight landmines, planted on a road in steel city Bokaro in Jharkhand, were Wednesday recovered by the police and paramilitary forces.

“Two landmines, each weighing 25 kg, were recovered in a joint operation of the district police with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The landmines have been neutralised,” a police official told IANS.

The landmines, which were planted on a road, were recovered near Pilpillo roundabout in Bokaro district, around 160 km from Ranchi, he said.

The official said the recovered landmines could have caused heavy casualty, if blasted by the Maoists.

Maoist rebels plant landmines on non-tarred roads in Jharkhand and detonate them when security forces pass along.
