BHUBANESWAR - A three-member team of Orissa Police is in New Delhi to interrogate Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, who was arrested in September last year, for his alleged role in violent activities in the state, an official said here Saturday.

A three-member team is in Delhi since past four days. They have already obtained permission from the court to examine Ghandy, a senior official of the state crime branch police told IANS.

The team will examine him (Ghandy) to find out if there was any role he played, especially in the Maoist attack in Nayagarh in 2008,” he said.

On Feb 15, 2008, the rebels attacked the Nayagarh district armoury and a police training school simultaneously with a degree of military precision unseen before. Fourteen people including 13 policemen were killed.

The senior officials of the crime branch will also collect information if Ghandy visited Orissa and if he was involved in any other attacks in the state,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Ghandy has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after his arrest Sep 20 last year.
