GANDHINAGAR - A day after two major explosives seizures in Gujarat, about 50 gelatine sticks and 80 detonators were seized from a village in Godhra district Monday, police said.
J.M. Mothalia, district superintendent of police, Godhra, confirmed the seizure in Narsipur village, but ruled out a terror angle.
“The explosives in all likelihood were meant for quarrying but we are not taking any chances and a full-scale investigation is on,” he added.
Policing has been tightened in the state following a general alert in the wake of the terror bombing in a Pune eatery Saturday.
On Sunday, 100 kg of ammonium nitrate and 300 detonators were seized from a person in Surendranagar district and 200 kg of ammonium nitrate, 600 detonators and 200 gelatine sticks seized from near Vapi in Valsad district of south Gujarat bordering Maharashtra.
The police have attributed all the seizures to quarry owners, though they aver that investigations are still on.
