Three Maoists arrested in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - Three Maoists were arrested Thursday from Orissa’s mineral rich Keonjhar district, police said.

The rebels were arrested from Pancham village under Brahmanipal police station area, some 150 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, district Superintendent of Police A.K. Singh told IANS.

The rebels were members of the local committee of the outlawed Communist Party of India- Maoist. They were involved in at least six crimes that occurred during the past three months in the district including in the attack on a security camp and the murder of a villager, he said.

“We have also seized Maoist uniforms, posters and leaflets from them,” he said, adding that a villager was also arrested for providing the rebels with logistic support.
