RANCHI - Three people were arrested in Palamau district of Jharkhand Wednesday for allegedly supplying arms to Maoist guerrillas, police said.

“On a tip off, police raided a hideout of arms suppliers near Chiyanki village. Three people were arrested. Six pistols, live cartridges, mobile phones and a motorbike were seized,” a police officer said.

The arrested men were identified as Mohammad Ismail alias Mintu and Bablu Ansari, both residents of Medininagar, and Muzahir Alma, a resident of Barwadih in Latehar district.

“We hope to get further details of arms supply from these people. There is an organised gang which supplies arms to Maoists in the state,” the officer said.

Chiyanki village in Palamau is around 170 km from Ranchi.
