BAGHDAD - A high-ranking Iraqi army officer was killed in a car bombing north of the capital Baghdad Saturday, an army source said.
Colonel Abdel Hakim al-Sabar was killed when the bomb planted under his car exploded near Tikrit, some 170 kilometres north of Baghdad, according to the source.
Meanwhile, police in the northern city of Mosul uncovered three bodies that were buried in al-Rashidiya district. The bodies were sent to a hospital in Mosul, a police source told DPA.
The Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported that the bodies are the remains of people who were kidnapped and killed in 2007.
