Iran to screen all US tourists

TEHRAN - Iran has decided to screen all American citizens seeking entry to the country on tourist visas, in response to a similar decision taken by the US.
Iran will screen all Americans applying for tourist visas to enter the country, in response to similar treatment being given by the US to Iranian travellers, MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Sunday.
The decision comes days after the US government issued instructions to all its airport authorities to screen visitors from certain countries, including Iran, Mehr News reported.
Enhanced screening of foreign travellers and other strict measures were announced by the US in the wake of a failed terror attempt on a Detroit-bound plane on Christmas day.
Earlier, Tehran had started fingerprinting American visitors in response to the US decision to take fingerprint of Iranians, Boroujerdi told reporters.
The Majlis drafted a bill and MPs passed it, he said, adding that from now on, all US citizens who intend to enter Iran will be fingerprinted and they will also be screened.
