Maoists blow up rail track in Jharkhand

RANCHI - Maoist guerrillas blew up a rail track causing the derailment of a goods train in Jharkhand’s Palamau district, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Maoist rebels blew up a rail track in Palamau district, about 180 km from Ranchi Monday night. Around a metre of the track was damaged in the blast.

A goods train which was passing through the same track was derailed. According to railway authorities, eight coaches were derailed, which disrupted rail services on the route. Authorities have started repair work and the services are expected to resume by Tuesday afternoon.
