Four BSF troopers injured in blast near Jammu

JAMMU - The Border Security Force (BSF) has found that the blast on the international border (IB) with Pakistan Saturday morning, in which four troopers were injured, was caused by a planted improvised explosive device (IED) to target the patrol and the barbed wire fence.

The blast occurred in Manguchak area, about 60 km south of Jammu. The injured soldiers have been admitted to the Government Medical College here.

BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) J.B. Sangwan said: “Besides injury to the soldiers, some portion of barbed wire fence has also been damaged in the blast.”

India has erected a barbed wire fence inside its territory along the 220-km-long international border in Jammu and the 720-km-long Line of Control in Kashmir to prevent the infiltration of militants from Pakistan.

Infiltration bids along the IB in Jammu region have been stepped up recently. The BSF has countered three attempts in the last two weeks.
