Two Maoists surrender in Jharkhand

RANCHI - Two Maoist guerrillas, including a woman, surrendered in Ranchi Saturday, police said.

According to police, the Maoist guerrillas - Sunita Kumari and Trilochan Munda -surrendered before Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Praveen Singh.

Both were wanted in more than 13 criminal cases. Sunita is the first woman Maoist to surrender in Jharkhand. They will be rehabilitated under the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state.

Jharkhand police this year started the ‘Nai Disha’ scheme to encourage Maoist guerrillas to surrender.

In Jharkhand this year, more than 22 Maoists have surrendered.
