SARAIPUNG - Security forces in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh Sunday launched a joint counter-insurgency operation to evict militants of the Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) involved in raiding border villages, leading to a volatile situation in the past week.

SARAIPUNG - Panic gripped villagers in Assam after incursions and attacks by tribals from Arunchal Pradesh, backed by militants of the Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM), during the past one week.

SILCHAR - Twelve militants of the United Democratic Liberation Tigers (UDLT) outfit surrendered to the Indian Army in Assam, army officials said here Monday.

HAFLONG - A large cache of arms and ammunition, including 28 AK-47 rifles belonging to separatist outfit Dima Halam Daogah's Jewel Gorolsa faction (DHD-J), has been recovered by security personnel in southern Assam, police officials said here Saturday.
