COLOMBO - The mother of slain Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader V. Prabhakaran passed away Sunday in a hospital, a media report said. She was 81.

Prabhakaran’s mother, who was living in Malaysia, was brought to Sri Lanka last year. Since then she was in protection custody of the Sri Lankan military and later she was released. She stayed at a lodge in Colombo for a short period until she moved to her native place at Valvetithurai village.
Prabhakaran was killed by the Sri Lankan army in May 2009 that ended a 25-year old civil war in the country.
