SRINAGAR - Two civilians were injured in two separate guerrilla attacks in Sopore town of Baramulla district in north Kashmir Thursday, police said.
In the first case, separatist guerrillas shot at and injured a shopkeeper in a busy market in Sopore town Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.
The shopkeeper, identified as Majid Bashir Khan, sustained an injury in his left leg and was taken to hospital.
An employee of the Public Health Engineering department, identified as Arif Reshi, was injured Thursday evening after guerrillas fired upon him near the main bus stand in the town.
Arif also received an injury in his leg and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.
The two shooting incidents triggered tension in Sopore town where guerrillas had last week shot and killed two sisters.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for Thursdays shootings. Meanwhile, security in the town has been further beefed up.
