Suspected bomber behind Moscow airport blast identified

Moscow, Feb 3 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Thursday that the suspected suicide bomber in the attack on Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has been identified.
The powerful blast, which ripped through the international arrivals hall of Russia’s largest airport, Jan 24 killed 36 people and injured over 100.
Federal Security Service’s chief Alexander Bortnikov did not name the suicide bomber. He did, however, reiterate in a meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev that Russian investigators had identified him as a 20-year-old from the country’s volatile North Caucasus.
Bortnikov added that experts have determined through an analysis of “body fragments” that the suicide bomber had been under the influence of a “massive amount” of drugs and “psychotropic substances”.
No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, which occurred less than 12 months after two female suicide bombers from the North Caucasus republic of Dagestan struck the Moscow metro, killing dozens.
