BOGOTA - At least 29 soldiers were injured in a car bomb blast near the Colombian border with Venezuela, military officials said.

The explosion occurred Thursday when a military patrol was passing between the towns of Tame and Puerto Rendon in Arauca region, bordering Venezuela, Xinhua quoted the commander of the army’s Brigade 18, Jairo Reyes, as saying.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - or FARC - is believed to be responsible for the blast.

The injured soldiers were taken to hospital, but none of them was in critical condition, Reyes said.
