Eight civilians killed in Afghanistan

KABUL - Two separate roadside bomb attacks have killed eight civilians in southern Afghanistan, officials said Sunday.

One bomb went off in the southern province of Helmand Saturday, striking a civilian minibus carrying nine people, killing six civilians and injuring three others, a statement issued by the governor’s office said.

Among those killed were women and children, it said.

Separately, two civilians were killed and another injured in a similar bomb attack in neighbouring Urzgan province, Khudai Rahim, the provincial governor, said.

The bomb struck a civilian car in Gezab district of southern province of Urzgan Saturday, the governor told DPA.
