SHILLONG - Assam should take action against the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) for killing civilians, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said Wednesday.

The seperatist tribal rebel group, which has threatened to kill 20 or more people for every one of its cadres killed by security forces, have killed 24 people since Monday evening.

“It is unfortunate that militants are resorting to killing of innocent civilians. Assam should take action against the militants,” Khandu told journalists here after the first-ever Arunachal Scouts battalion was raised at Assam Regimental Centre.

Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh and Assam government officials are scheduled to meet Nov 15 to review the overall security situation along the inter-state border following the killing of Arunachal Pradesh government employees by the NDFB rebels.

“We will decide on that day (Nov 15) whether to carry out the joint operation by the two state police against the NDFB,” he added.
