BHUBANESWAR - Four Maoists were arrested after a gunfight in Orissa’s Gajapati district Friday, police said.
“Police spotted a Maoist camp in a forested area near the district’s Adaba area. They retaliated after the rebels fired at them,” District Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Arora told IANS.
Four rebels, aged between 20-35, were captured after the gunfight that lasted an hour, he said.
Maoist uniforms, literature and some weapons, including a country-made gun, were seized from the site, he said.
More then half of state’s 30 districts are Maoists affected. Gajapati, some 300 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, is one of the worst-hit districts.
