Suicide bombers attack UN office in Afghanistan

KABUL - Suicide bombers attacked United Nations offices in western Afghanistan Saturday, an Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman said.
Zemary Bashir confirmed the attack, saying that an unspecified number of gunmen with suicide vests had entered a UN compound in the western province of Herat.
“The police are surrounding the UN compound in Herat,” he said.
There were no immediate details on any casualties. UN spokeswoman Nelab Moberz said that an office had been attacked by rebels, but she did not give more details.
An insurgent attack last year on a guesthouse killed five foreign UN staffers in Kabul.
