10 killed in Iraq bomb attack

BAGHDAD - At least 10 people were killed Tuesday when a bomb exploded in the house of a police officer in Iraq, Xinhua reported.
Eight bodies were retrieved and two more were still under the debris of the house which collapsed after the bomb explosion in Tikrit, the capital city of Salahudin province, a police source said. Tikrit is some 170 km north of Baghdad.
A six-month-old child survived the attack, the source said.
In another incident in Tikrit, a bomb exploded in the house of a senior police officer, wounding two of his family members.
Meanwhile, two policemen were killed in a roadside bomb blast in the city of Samarra, 110 km north of Baghdad, the source said.
Violent attacks are still common in Iraqi cities, hampering the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore normalcy in the country.
