Militant surrenders in Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU - A militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen Wednesday surrendered to the army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district and pledged to live a normal life, the army said here.
Taj Mohammad, who became a militant four months ago and had received training in handling weapons and hurling grenades, surrendered in Thanna Mandi area of Rajouri district, the army said in a statement.
He handed over an AK-47 assault rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds of AK-47 rifle.
The statement issued by the defence public relations office here said that Taj Mohammad vowed that he would not return to militancy ever.
“He pledged to live a normal life,” the statement said.
