Police: Son killed Nigerian secret police officer

KANO, Nigeria — Police say the son of a high-ranking official with Nigeria’s secret police killed his father and three family members during a knife attack.

Police investigators say they arrested 23-year-old Bello Garba Bello on Tuesday.

Kano state police spokesman Daba Muhammad Azare told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Bello confessed to committing the killings, saying he worried he couldn’t support his ill father’s family after he died.

Bello’s father was a senior officer with Nigeria’s State Security Service, the oil-rich nation’s secret police.
