BHUBANESWAR - Police Monday seized arms, ammunition and explosives from a Maoist camp after a three-hour gun battle with the rebels in a forested area of Orissa’s Jajpur district, police said. The camp was later destroyed.
No casualty was reported on the police side in the gunfight. A search is on to see if the Maoists incurred any losses.
Police and special operation group personnel jointly raided the camp in the forested area located on the border of Keonjhar and Jajpur district, some 180 km from Bhubaneswar.
Police retaliated after the rebels fired at them, Superintendent of Police D.S. Kuttey told IANS. “The exchange of fire lasted for about three hours and ended after the rebels fled back into to the forest,” he said.
A laptop, three guns, explosives and other arms and ammunition were seized from the camp.
