Rachel Wade Receives 27 Years Sentence

CLEARWATER (GaeaTimes.com)- Rachel Wade, 20 was found guilty of second degree murder after she brutally murdered her romantic rival Sarah Ludeman. The gruesome murder took place on April 15, 2009 when Rachel Wade stabbed the victim twice with a kitchen knife after the rivalry over their mutual love interest, Joshua Camacho got out of hands. Yesterday the Florida judge Joseph Bulone sentenced Rachel Wade 27 years in prison for the murder.

The judge said that given Rachel Wade’s age and no criminal records, her actions were aggravating. The judge added that it was a cold blooded murder and not an “accident”. However, the defense requested for 15 years of sentence, followed by 15 years of probation but the judge gave the verdict yesterday. When Rachel Wade appeared in court last time she took her stand and said that she killed Sarah Ludeman for self defense. However, the case took a dramatic turn when the abusive voice messages were played in the court where she was heard threatening the victim. The public prosecutor said that the stabbing was so violent that the knife blade was “bent”.

Rachel Wade in one of her interviews previously said that she never meant to kill Sarah Ludeman but she will have to live with this blame all her life. However, Rachel Wade’s lawyer Jay Hebert said that the verdict was very “fair” as he feels that this was not a case that called for “life”. The lawyer also added that the case is a “cautionary” tale about mixture of young generation and modern “communication” technology. Jay Hebert said that his client Rachel Wade has taken a firm decision to teach people about the negative sides of social networking. The lawyer also warned parents to pay close attention to their children to avoid misfortunes like this in near future.
