CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com) — Gwen Araujo, an American teenage pre-operative transgender woman was murdered in Newark, California in October 2002. Justice could not give the right decision then. The two defendants were punished with 2nd degree murder, but not on hate crime convictions. The other 2 pleaded guilty. In one of the trials, a gay panic defense was employed. Today, a documentary around this movie: “A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story” will be shown on the Lifetime Movie Network at 8:00 pm, along with a repeat telecast.

The Justice of Gwen was completely unjust.

What would you do if society chose not to accept you for who you are? Instead they made fun of you and taunted you. Well, Gwen Araujo did’nt know the answers. All she knew was that she was supposed to be a female. So, she lived that way. Gwen and her Family had to go through this trauma just because even in this modern society, People fail to accept people.

God loves Gwen and others who were murdered for the same reason as hers. “Please don’t, I have a family”, were Gwen’s last words.

Only in death did Gwen Araujo get waht she wanted the most: Acceptance and Attention. Everybody’s attention.

, said by her uncle.
