CHANDIGARH, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a sensational development Chandigarh Police has lodged a number of complaints regarding fraudulent ATM Transactions in the place. The victims have complained that even though their ATM card was not lost they found money withdrawn from their accounts. The police is of the opinion that a local network of tech savvy miscreants is working behind this ATM scam. Jaswant Singh Khaira the deputy superintendent of police said that the CCTV footages of the ATMs from where money was stolen are being scanned by experts.

Chandigarh Police is suspecting that the rogues who have stolen money from others accounts could have used a card-reader and cloned the original ATM cards. They possibly got the password by placing hidden cameras close to the ATM screens. The SBI Bank officials are not outside the suspicion of the police as well. The previous month Chandigarh Police arrested some people for cloning others ATM cards and using them to withdraw INR300000 from several SBI ATMs. It is also being probed why the miscreants are specially targeting the SBI ATMs.

The incident has once again pointed to the security lapses in ATMs. This problem is haunting Chandigarh Police of late but similar crimes are being reported from various parts of the country. It could be the brainwork of a national level gang as the cops are suspecting. Some of the victims got updates on their phones that cash was withdrawn from their accounts. They were shocked when they verified with the bank. The Police is trying to nab the criminals who may give them a key to get in to the core of the network.
