KOLKATA - A suspected Maoist linkman was arrested Tuesday in West Bengal’s Bankura district, police said.

“Sukhdeb Hembram was arrested from Sarenga police station area following a tip-off. He is a resident of Keshia village near Goaltore of West Midnapore district and known to be a Maoist sympathiser,” Bankura Superintendent of Police Pranav Kumar said.

A senior police officer said: “Neither arms nor Maoists posters were found from him. Moreover not a single case was registered against him.”

However, Pranav Kumar said: “We are carrying out an investigation to see whether he is accused in any case or unlawful activity.”
