PATIALA - A suspected Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) extremist was arrested from Punjab’s Patiala district Monday, police said.

Pargat Singh is an associate of another KLF extremist Bakshish Singh, who was arrested in the state recently, a police official said. He said interrogation of Pargat was on.

Pargat was staying as paying guest Pushpinder Singh in a house in Patiala, about 70 km from Chandigarh. A police official did not rule out the possibility of Pargat trying to re-group terror elements in the state to revive terrorism.

Punjab faced a bloody phase of terrorism between 1981 to 1995, leaving nearly 25,000 people dead.
