Abu Salem attacked in jail by Dawood henchman

MUMBAI - Mafia don Abu Salem, one of the accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, was attacked Saturday with a sharp instrument inside the Arthur Road Central Jail allegedly by Mohammed Dossa, a member of Dawood Ibrahim’s gang, police said.
Bleeding profusely from the neck and shoulder, Salem was rushed for treatment within the prison premises.
Dossa is said to be a member of absconding mafia don, Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar. The attack took place around breakfast in the high security jail precincts.
The jail authorities are likely to take a decision to shift Dossa - believed to nurse an old rivalry with Salem - from the Arthur Road Jail to another location later Saturday.
The attack has the authorities worried since the Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Kasab, awarded death penalty by a special court three months ago, is also lodged in the same jail.
