KOLKATA - Suspected Maoists Friday shot dead a 58-year-old primary school teacher in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, police said.
The incident took place around 4.30 p.m. when Rabindranath Mahato, a teacher of the Indraboni Primary School, was standing on a road near the school in Indraboni village in Jhargram sub-division.
Three suspected Maoists came on a motorcycle and shot at Mahato, who died on the spot, Jhargram Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said.
“We suspect that Maoists are behind the crime,” Kumar said.
