RANCHI - Five Maoists involved in blasting a railway station building earlier this month have been arrested in Jharkhand’s Latehar district, police said Tuesday.

According to police, the rebels belonging to the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested Monday night from Amradiha village which comes under Barwadih police station of Latehar district, around 140 km from Ranchi.

The arrested rebels include Arun Yadav, who had spread terror in the district, police said.

“The arrested Maoists were involved in blasting the building of Hehegara station during a two-day strike called by the CPI-Maoist early this month,” a police official told IANS.

“We seized Maoist literature, maps and other incriminating documents from the arrested rebels,” he said.

The Maoists called the strike July 7-8 to protest the killing of their top leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad in Andhra Pradesh.
