“Grim Sleeper” Suspect Lonnie David Franklin Jr. Arrested

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- “Grim Sleeper” who went on a hiatus for 14 years and baffled many investigators for decades with his sheer clean way of escape has at last been arrested by the Los Angeles Police on Wednesday. The police on Wednesday arrested the prime suspect of the serial killing that took place between 1985 and 2007. The police early on Wednesday closed the blocks around the house of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. at 81st Street in Los Angeles.

The “Grim Sleeper” suspect Lonnie David Franklin Jr. is suspected of killing 11 people of which 10 are women and one man. The Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said to media sources that on Wednesday, Lonnie David Franklin Jr. was charged with 10 counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Apart from these, Lonnie David Franklin Jr. also faces special circumstance allegations and if found guilty of the deeds the suspected murderer might be sentenced to death.

Most of his victims were prostitutes who were first sexually assaulted by the murderer and then shot to death. The police this time was able to reach to the suspect after it followed the family tree of the son of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. who is in prison. The DNA of the suspected murderer that was collected from different crime scenes was matched with the DNA of the son of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. which revealed the latter to be a close relative of the murderer. It is then that they followed Lonnie David Franklin Jr. and collected a DNA swab from the cup he used in a restaurant. It is only after the DNA matching that Lonnie David Franklin Jr., the suspected “Grim Sleeper” was arrested by the Los Angeles police.
