Many broke down when the guard of honour was given to the dead men in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and senior security personnel here.

Maoists massacred 27 security personnel Tuesday in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. Eight of them were from Orissa.

They were identified as Bidyadhar Barik, Ranjan Kumar Sahu, Panuram Nayak, Tushar Baral, R.C. Hembram, Pankaj Mohanty, Sudam Chandra Das and Gobinda Pradhan.

Patnaik has announced ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakh and pension to the next of kin of the victims.
