Report: No wrongdoing by police in Ark. shooting

JONESBORO, Ark. — A prosecutor has found no indications of wrongdoing by police in West Memphis, Ark., who shot and killed a father and son who were wanted in the separate shooting deaths of two police officers.

Prosecutor Mike Walden says Jerry and Joseph Kane would have faced capital murder charges had they not been killed in a shootout with police in the parking lot of a West Memphis Walmart in May.

The prosecutor released his report on the shootings Wednesday.

West Memphis police officers Bill Evans and Brandon Paudert were killed May 20 along Interstate 40 after Evans pulled over a minivan driven by 45-year-old Jerry Kane, who was traveling with his son.
