Sergio El Shaka Vega Murdered in Mexico

Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) Mexican Singer Sergio “El Shaka” Vega was shot dead in Sinaloa while he was on his way to a concert there. He had denied reports of his rumored death just a few hours before he was tragically shot by a drug gang. This is at least the seventh musician murdered in Mexico in three years. Sergio Vega was a narcocorrido singer celebrating the lives of drug barons. Musicians like him are becoming the targets of rival drug gangs.

It is reported that Sergio Vega was driving his red Cadillac on Saturday Night. A truck started following him and shortly after, shots were fired at the car. After being injured from the firing, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed it. The gunmen then shot to his head and his chest, supposedly with the intention to make sure that he was killed. It is reported that Police found spent bullets next to the driver’s door.

Just hours before he was actually killed, there were rumors circulating in the Mexico City about his death. Mr. Vega had to make clear that he did not die and the reports of his murder had been mistaken.

It’s happened to me for years now, someone tells a radio station or a newspaper I’ve been killed, or suffered an accident.

Mr Vega said,

And then I have to call my dear mum, who has heart trouble, to reassure her.

But on that ill-fated day, his mother’s waiting for the call went in vain.
