TEHRAN - Iran Sunday executed a leader of a Pakistan-based terrorist group, the Iranian state-run Press TV reported.

Authorities said Abdolmalek Rigi, leader of Jundallah group, was arrested as he was preparing to launch terror strikes in the country.

Rigi was charged with 79 counts of crimes, including armed robbery, bombings in public places, attacks on the army, police and civilians, kidnapping and murder, among others.

He was arrested Feb 23 in eastern Iran while he was on a flight from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan.

Rigi was hanged Sunday morning in Tehran’s Evin prison after a ruling issued by the country’s Islamic Revolution Court.
