Five Maoists held in Jharkhand

RANCHI - Five Maoist guerrillas were arrested from Jharkhand’s Gumla district Tuesday, police said.

Four Maoist rebels belonging to the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were held from Silamkot jungle area of Gumla, around 140 km from Ranchi, while a Maoist commander was arrested from Visunpur village of the district.

Two rifles, live cartridges, Maoist literature, among other things were seized from them, a police officer said.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
