Mo. man formally charged with raping 4 during ’80s

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A convicted sex offender charged with raping four Kansas City, Mo., women in the 1980s and considered a person of interest in five recent rapes has been arraigned.

Bernard Jackson pleaded not guilty through his attorney Wednesday to four counts of robbery, seven counts of rape and seven counts of sodomy.

Prosecutors say Jackson raped the four women between July 1983 and February 1984. They say at least two of the victims were assaulted multiple times.

The 52-year-old defendant was arrested in April and charged in the 1980s cases. He’s also considered a person of interest in five rapes in Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood from September 2009 through February of this year.

Jackson has spent most of his adult life in prison on rape convictions.
