Juan-Carlos Cruz: Food Network Chef Arrested

Santa Monica, California (GaeaTimes.com) Juan-Carlos Cruz, former host of Food Network show is arrested with accusations of cooking up a murder plot by soliciting homeless people to commit murder for money.

Santa Monica Police Sgt. Jay Trisler said that officers were contacted on May 7 by homeless individuals who were allegedly solicited by Cruz to kill someone. The people who were solicited agreed to help the police in the investigation. Juan-Carlos Cruz was arrested Thursday and booked on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder. It is reported that the detectives discovered where, when and how the targeted victim would be murdered. They also found out how much money Cruz allegedly offered them. Reportedly, the intended victim has been notified but the name of the victim is not identified publicly as the investigation is still ongoing.

Juan-Carlos Cruz is a celebrity chef on the Food Network. He hosts two shows on the network named Calorie Commando and Take It Off/Weighing In. On a Discovery Health Show named Discovery Health Body Challenge, Juan-Carlos Cruz lost 43 pounds. After that he changed his direction from pastry chef to low calorie cooking.

Juan-Carlos Cruz graduated from in the California Culinary Academy in 1993. After that he started working at the Stanford Park Hotel as a pastry chef. He started as pastry sous-chef at the Hotel Bel Air in 1996. During his serving period in Bel Air he made pastries for celebrities like Jack Nicholson, Gary Oldman, Will Smith, Russell Crowe, Nancy Reagan, Oprah Winfrey and many others. He stared his website Pastrydude.com in 2001.
