Pa. cooking teacher accused of sex with teen pupil

POTTSTOWN, Pa. — A former suburban Philadelphia culinary arts teacher is facing charges he began an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student while teaching her how to drive.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Raymond Brown began the relationship with the girl last year during her driving lessons. A criminal complaint says the student told police she and Brown would devise cover stories to fool her dad and allow them to spend nights together in motels.

Brown was fired in January from his job at the Pickering Campus of the Center for Arts and Technology in Phoenixville, where he’d worked since 1998. He was arrested in March.

The Horsham resident on Thursday waived a preliminary hearing on charges including corruption of minors.

Defense attorney David Ennis has declined to comment outside court.
